Bathroom Remodeling

One of modern man’s most cherished conveniences – the indoor bathroom. If your bathroom is old and decrepit, broken and leaky, or just in need of an update, we can help you through the decision-making process and deliver a bathroom you will cherish for years to come.

With all that water, there are many potential sources of leaks in bathrooms. The most frequent offender is the tile around the tub/shower. Many houses have the tile glued directly to the sheet-rock. While tile is extremely durable, the grout between the tiles is a notorious source of leaks that can cause the tiles to fall off. Today we use cement boards screwed into the wall studs to support the tile. While grout maintenance is still necessary, the cement board can withstand the small amounts of moisture that occasionally leak through grout.

Another solution we have used lately is solid surface walls in showers, which eliminates the grout entirely, and costs about the same as tile. Better still, this eliminates grout cleaning! While not as durable as tile, many people prefer fiberglass or acrylic units that eliminate the need to clean and repair grout joints as well. Additionally, these units are significantly cheaper.

Some of the many convenient options we include in our bathroom remodels are:

• One piece sink tops which eliminate another source of leaks and are easy to clean
• Comfort height toilets and taller counters for ease of use
• Mildew resistant paint and drywall to help keep the mold issues under control
• In-floor electric heat for those cold winter mornings
• New cut-off valves for all new fixtures which facilitates future maintenance work
• Grab-bars for safety in the shower
• Quieter, more efficient vent fans
